Beneficiaries
Each year the Xavier Committee chooses a local beneficiary to lend its support to. The dinner has been successful in raising over $4.5 million for charity over its lifetime. This year marks 64 years of the Dinner, making it one of the most respected and longest running events of its kind in Australia. Each year the dinner is attended by around 350 of Brisbane’s leading businessmen.
This year we are excited to announce the Emmanuel City Mission as our 2024 Xavier Dinner Beneficiary.
Every day Emmanuel City Mission opens their doors and care for the homeless and vulnerable of our city, creating a space where they can feel safe, cared for and valued. The work of Emmanuel City Mission truly brings hope and healing to the lives of people who need it most.
Their mission is to connect homeless and vulnerable people with people who care; increasing trust and decreasing loneliness.
As a ministry of Emmanuel Community, Emmanuel City Mission was established in 2009 to serve the vulnerable of Brisbane. Originally named Blind Eye Ministries, the ministry was created as a volunteer, street-based outreach service. From a permanent community hub in 2014, Emmanuel City Mission is open 7 days a week providing vulnerable members of the community with services such as nutritious food, showers and washing facilities, clothing and toiletries and a safe place where voices are heard.
